The Dedham Neighbourhood Plan helps guide the future of our riverside parish, supporting sustainable growth while protecting the landscape, heritage, and character of the village.
To give residents and workers a greater voice in shaping the community, Dedham Parish Council began creating a neighbourhood statement – the Dedham Parish Plan in September 2009. A local steering group was formed to lead the process, following Government-endorsed community planning guidelines promoted by the RCCE. Consultation began with a public workshop in April 2010, followed by a full community questionnaire in November. This helped identify key local needs and shape the resulting action plans.
The final Plan includes twelve sections reflecting public opinion, along with a full list of Action Points.
The Dedham Parish Plan has been adopted, and the Council will now work to deliver its action points. Some require external support, while others fall within the Council’s remit. Progress will be reviewed in the coming months and shared via the Parish Magazine, Notice Boards, and Website – including any actions deemed unachievable.
