Planning Your Walk

Here’s some practical information to help you make the most of your walk, including details on stiles, dog guidance, parking, and general accessibility.

Stiles

Throughout the parish, it’s policy to replace footpath stiles with kissing gates to improve access for all walkers. While this is well underway, some stiles remain – so please be prepared when planning your route.

Dogs

We welcome well-behaved dogs.  Please keep them on a lead as a courtesy to landowners and fellow walkers, and to ensure that livestock and ground-nesting birds are not disturbed.  Please make sure that your pet does not foul the footpath, which is, by definition, a place where others will be walking!

Car Parking

Dedham’s main car park is on Mill Lane, about 200 yards from the church. Additional parking is available at Flatford (charges apply, including for NT members). For the South Easterly Walk, free short-term parking is available near Lawford Church, just off the A137.
